An Apple Books Classics edition.

What would it be like to live by the rules of your true, wild nature? Follow the adventures of Buck, a giant St. Bernard mix who is stolen from a ranch in California and sold as a sled dog in the lawless, Gold Rush-era Klondike. As he encounters the violence of men and other animals, Buck quickly realizes he must ditch his manners and tap into his wild instincts if he wants to survive. Can Buck answer the call of the wild? With moments of heart-wrenching brutality, Jack London’s most famous novel has snared readers since 1903.

Years ago in 4th/5th grade, a teacher read this to the class. I had to pick it up again and so happy I did. 👍

This book is probably the best one since the bible. Holds up today even over a hundred years after its publication. I’m 12 and even I can tell how good it is. Country boy classic.

Great story that tugs at your heart for the main character a dog named Buck. Tough to read all the animal abuse and cruelty.
  • Magnificently piercing portrayal of the Wild

One of the best books ever written. Unparalleled in its compelling, layered revealing of the Alaskan frontier and the dogs who taught humans what it meant to be tough yet loyal. This epic story has reached global stature much because the story of The Wild is the Origin story of every creature, great and small.

Simple and engaging read. Finished it in one day! The authors descriptive imagery, and the way in which he conveys Buck’s animalistic development is why I give this book such a high review

Great book it entranced me for a whole day, the growth of Buck from beginning to end is abysmal yet grounded, definitely much to dissect but the connection to earth, humanity and primal instincts are all great themes to explore

Just a great adventure by an author who knows how to paint pictures with language.
