INSPIRATION FOR THE NETFLIX SERIES DEPT. Q

Copenhagen’s Detective Carl Mørck is back and ready for action in the second Department Q novel from the
“new ‘it’ boy of Nordic Noir” (The Times, London).

Carl Mørck has settled into Department Q and is ready to take on another cold case. This time, it’s the brutal double-murder of a brother and sister two decades earlier. One of the suspects confessed and is serving time, but it’s clear to Mørck that all is not what it seems. Kimmie, a homeless woman with secrets involving certain powerful individuals, could hold the key—if Mørck can track her down before they do...

Well written mystery with a lovable, funny detective who defuses horror with his sense of humor. He is brilliant at understanding a person’s moral and character traits - e.g., within minutes of his interview with the sociopath in Spain he knew he was rotten to the core. Of course, the gang of monsters were in a whole special league of depravity brought on by drugs and years of entitlement or extreme abuse and negligence. I had to skip over parts that were simply too difficult to read. Their cruelty to humans and animals was just too much to even read about. If I ever needed a detective, I would want Carl on the case - brilliant, modest, honest, and a heart of gold! Great friend, stepfather, and boss, too!! Assad and Rose are also great characters!

Read the first book because I was told they were great reads. The first book was goog, but this one is much much better. You really get to feel for the characters. I read it non stop, I failed my housework and errands because I wanted to keep reading....

A lovely book. I enjoyed his first as well, and this every bit as much. The author infuses the story with fascinating details, sadness, compassion, and humor. I loved it and hope there will be many more!

I read this book in two days . Riveting, brutal, disturbing and extremely well written. Best book I've read in awhile. Interesting concept and flawed characters that grabbed me from the first page. I give it 5 stars
