Description

A relentless tanker truck. A gang of outlaw bikers. On this lonely stretch of desert highway, the only rule is survival.

Inspired by Richard Matheson's classic "Duel," "Throttle," by Joe Hill and Stephen King, is a duel of a different kind, pitting a faceless trucker against a tribe of motorcycle outlaws in the simmering Nevada desert.

The story tracks road captain Vince Adamson and his estranged son Race as their battered crew flees a bloody desert deal. The authors stage a relentless pursuit where the only thing more lethal than the roaring grille in their mirrors is the sheer drop off the canyon road.

The Tribe confronts an asphalt chute with no breakdown lane, caught where letting off the throttle is fatal.

Their battle is fought out on twenty miles of the most lonely road in the country, a place where the only thing worse than not knowing what you're up against, is slowing down . . .
Found Family: Lemmy Chapman has ridden six to Vince’s twelve since their days in the Mekong Delta, standing loyal even as their brotherhood of road veterans faces total obliteration.Morally Grey Hero: Vince sees his own reckless past reflected in Race’s mirrored sunglasses, battling to protect an arrogant son who refuses to check his mirrors or admit his mistakes. Also by This Author: NOS4A2, The Fireman and Heart Shaped Box.

I was hoping for more from these writers. Having ridden Harleys since the late 70’s in Cali and now in Mexico the small tidbits into the bikes wasn’t that satisfying. I’m trying to understand if the guys were checking the drug mfg to see if he was sticking after the lab fire or what. They had a nice breakfast and ended up killing two people?

Throttle is one fine tale about honor and respect. King and Hill accomplish amazing imagery with their words, for both action and environment. Perfect summer read!

Read this in one sitting. Not by choice, I simply could not put it down. I only hesitated when I needed to compare moments to incidents, thoughts, and verbiage in my life. Especially paternal moments. Wonderful .

Mediocre at best. Sk allowing another less than good author ride his coat tails to make money. Even at .99 someone is making the money. Good luck to Joe and shame on sk for allowing your name to be associated with it.
