Description

Fourth Wing meets The Hunger Games in this spicy, page-turning romantasy where humans and direwolves forge unbreakable bonds and fight for survival at all costs.

Only the worthy survive the Bonding Trials.  She’ll risk her life—and her heart—to be one of them.

Meryn Cooper has always hated the Bonded, elite warriors who form mental links with the massive, vicious direwolves they ride. While they live in luxury, Meryn struggles to keep her family out of poverty. When her little sister, Saela, is kidnapped—stolen across the border by the immortal monsters her country has spent centuries fighting—Meryn’s world falls apart.

Desperate to cross the front and save her sister, Meryn enlists in the army and is thrown into the deadly Bonding Trials, where any mistake will cost her life.

Now Meryn must survive four months of training at the castle. She is bound to a feral direwolf who refuses to communicate. The other trainees would love to spill her common blood. And her cold and beautiful instructor, Stark Therion, is eager to punish any weakness.

Everything is a competition, and everyone is out to get her—everyone except the dangerously handsome crown prince, whose attention adds another target to her back. In the castle, every smile hides a knife…and the halls hide dark secrets.

It’s bond or bleed. Duel or die. Failure is ruin.

Incredible read. Took me one and a half days to plow through this while also managing to be an adult. It captivated me to no end, and I cannot wait to start on the second book. If you loved the Fourth Wing series, even ACOTAR, this series will engulf you into a world of fear, war, love, longing, treachery, and keep you on the edge of your seat. With unexpected twists and turns, it's sure to keep you entertained. Someone needs to make this a movie, pronto! I cannot stress this enough, I LOVED this book!

This book was definitely dark and lives up to the hype if you like the sieries arcane or fourth wing and hunger games it gives very similar vibes the political intrigue commentary on the objectification of women and the wealth desparity that arises from the class system is just soo good the combat scenes are excellent but they’re are quite a few grafic and intense intimate scenes nearly one every fith chapter and it felt quite gratuitous especially considering how they make are strong female protagonist almost helpless during theses moments but overall it’s an amazing book

This first book was so incredibly good that I am reeling! Just… BRAVO! The bonus chapter was so appreciated! I’ll admit that I skimmed through some of the more detailed parts, but it was because it was so darn good that I had to know what was coming. I am getting ready to read the next book and I must say, I am really nervous that it won’t be the end and I’ll have to wait for the next to be written. I can’t wait to see how Meryn’s relationship with “someone” continues to progress. If you are wondering whether this book is worth the cost, take it from me- it SO is! Thank you to the authors for this story. I am sincerely grateful that I got to enjoy it. I am so excited to read more!

I enjoyed this book. Thought it was gonna be a shifter one, but the idea of writing wolves was very cool. Can’t wait for the second book. It was exciting. Don’t know what was gonna happen next. Excellent good read. I definitely highly recommend this book. Action thrilling spicy.

I enjoyed this book! Very much like fourth wing. But the plot took a long time to really unfold and for you to get any meaningful info. 1,000 pages of Killian was horrible lol. Could have shortened the middle of the book by like 40-50%. It was also annoying how long Meryn struggled for - with talking to her dire wolf, fitting in, learning the bonded ways. Like some struggle is great but I feel like she failed over and over and over again lol. It was kind of disheartening. I also never want to hear the word kitten again. But I will be buying book 2 lol.
